Warm and Cozy Cabin Stays
While our peaceful and rustically inspired cabins make for wonderful stays all year round, they may be best enjoyed during the chillier months. Our cabins are each equipped with not only warm and comfortable furnishings but also a fireplace to truly set the atmosphere with a cozy, crackling fire. As a bonus, our cabin rates are also significantly reduced throughout all of our off-season months! Booking with us through the winter months would offer you the stay of a lifetime and one of the very best deals we offer!
Indoor Experiences
Our area may be best known for spectacular outdoor adventures, but the attractions found indoors are all too often overlooked! The towns of Marshall and Gilbert are home to several unique places to honor history and the arts. Marshall for instance is well known for its famous “Buffalo River Historic Jail and Museum” which provides fascinating insight into the history of the founders of the Buffalo River area. Gilbert’s “Buffalo River Art Gallery” is also a popular destination for tourists of the river. This museum houses and sells beautiful works made by many of Searcy County’s very own local artists!
Shopping
The Buffalo River area is home to some of the very most charming and quaint shopping quarters the state of Arkansas has to offer. Our very own store for instance, which operates every day of the week all year round, holds the perfect blend of Buffalo River merchandise and essential gear for camping, fishing, or floating in the area. For this reason, Buffalo River Outfitters makes for the perfect gifting destination during the holiday season in particular! Just 18 miles south of our store, Historic Downtown Leslie is also a shopping experience you don’t want to miss! Leslie is a town that takes pride in its historical significance and unique charm that attracts people from far and wide to visit its lovely shopping center.
Delicious Southern-Inspired Restaurants
The towns surrounding the Buffalo River, St. Joe, Gilbert, Marshall, and Leslie, hold so many beloved restaurants it’s difficult to highlight only a few to recommend! St. Joe, which has many restaurants that are each wonderful in their own way, is probably best well known for “Ferguson’s Country Store and Restaurant”, which offers not only country-style cuisine but also gorgeous cherry/oak furniture and Buffalo River merchandise. Gilbert is home to the immensely charming “Ben’s Place on the Pavilion” right next to the Gilbert General Store which provides not only tasty food but also live music starting in spring! If you’re looking for a classic Mom and Pop’s burger place, “Daisy Queen” of Marshall is the perfect spot for you. They also have a small arcade attachment that includes air hockey and pool tables! Lastly, Leslie has the delicious “Skylark Cafe” which has a unique and eclectic sense of style and delicious cafe meals and desserts!
Winter Floats
Floats in the winter months may not be a first choice for many, but should certainly not be overlooked as one of the most beautiful and one of a kind experiences a person can have on the Buffalo! With proper preparation, floats in the winter make for just as, if not a sometimes even more incredible experience on the river comparatively to the popular summer months. If you’re lucky, you may get to see firsthand the beautiful, sparkling icicles that line the bluffs and the hauntingly breathtaking fog that rolls over the river, making for a river adventure you’re sure to never forget!
All of these activities and more can be enjoyed during this special time of year on the Buffalo.
